About

“I tell everyone that the secret to the success of this project was Nick Mackie and his inspired reporting team,” says Tom Bettag, Executive Producer, Koppel on Discovery, The People’s Republic of Capitalism. “To have someone who had invested years in Chongqing and opened the doors made this stand out. Nick had established his credibility with officials, businessmen, and the common people of Chongqing. That made it possible for them to trust us in a land where trust is everything. Without this help, we risked being one more group of outsiders dropping in and just scratching the surface.”

Welcome,

inspired reporting is a boutique multi-media production and consulting company, experienced in reporting on three continents for the global media.

Led by Director & Correspondent Nick Mackie, our main focus is China and SEAsia.

Nick has been based  in  Chongqing, since 2003 – the first and only western correspondent to reside deep inside the country.

A high-octane self-starter, he won an Emmy for his China reporting with PBS’ Nightly Business Report in 2005.

Our clients include FBC Media, which produces the CNBC Europe & Asia-Pacific title, “World Business”; BBC, DW World, APTN and Newsweek.

We also served as Koppel on Discovery’s Resident China Producer during the planning and filming of the acclaimed 4 hour documentary, “The People’s Republic of Capitalism”.
